Curricula
Earthcare Connections provides curricula designed to engage students in issues related to the environment.
Earthcare has two curricula with valuable information about the physical attributes of the earth and the relationship between humans and the earth’s elements: Earthcare for Children and Earth Awareness Program. Both resources are available on request, or you can consult Earthcare Connections about activities, projects and programs you wish to initiate. Earthcare also offers the Earthcare Balloon* Preparation Program, available below. In addition, we recommend the Ecological Footprint tool and online sources for this valuable teaching tool are suggested below.
Earthcare for Children, a First Day School Curriculum
This guide to the environment contains thirteen chapters of discussions, colouring, crafts, poems, songs and more. Aimed at younger children, it teaches them about soil, water, air, seasons, food and diversity. Published by the Quakers, this curriculum includes some scripture, prayers and references to God and creation. By Sandra Moon Farley, Diana Gail Egly and Thomas Baxter Farley in connection with the Friends Committee on Unity with Nature.
Earth Awareness Program
This curriculum accompanies the Earthcare Balloon and can be tailored by our regional coordinators to meet your needs. Includes lessons and activities for students in kindergarten through grade 12, and ideas for classroom activities to work on prior to the arrival of the Earthcare Balloon. The approach in this curriculum is geographical and social studies based.

To help with your preparation, we offer activities below to encourage students to learn about the earth and prepare for the coming of the Balloon. Answer keys to the questions can be obtained by contacting us.
