1. On the attached map label the seven continents and the four oceans.

2. On the attached map label the following mountain ranges:

  • Rockies
  • Appalachians


3. On the attached map label the following major bodies of water:

  • Mediterranean Sea
  • Bering Sea
  • Sea of Japan
  • Red Sea
  • Bay of Benegal
  • Black Sea
  • Caribbean Sea
  • Arabian Sea
  • Caspian Sea

4. Name the seaven continents from smallest to largest.

5. What is the earth's tallest mountain? In which country would you find this mountain?

6. Where is the earth's lowest point?

7. How much of the earth's surface is covered by water? What percent of that is salt water? How much is drinkable?

8. In addition to Brazil, where are the earth's other two great areas of rain forest?

9. How much of the earth's rain forests are destroyed every minute?
          A. Enough to fill 2 football fields
          B. Enough to fill 27 football fields
          C. Enough to fill 50 football fields


10. Write the word equator on the horizontal line, running through the middle of the  map and mark it as 0 degrees.

11. At 23 1/2 degrees north of the equator mark the Tropic of Cancer. Label it as 23 1/2 degress N. Can you locate the Arctic Circle at 66 1/2 degrees N?

12. At 23 1/2 degrees south of the equator mark the Tropic of Capricorn and label it as 23 1/2 degrees S. Can you locate the Antarctic Circle at 66 1/2 degrees S?

13. In a recent almanac find the five largest countries on earth. List them here from largest to smallest.

14. Locate the five most populous countries on earth. Place them in order here with the most populous country first.

15. Refer back to the almanc and find the five most populous cities on earth. Place them in order with the most populous city first.
