About Us

Earthcare Connections exists to promote the conscious choice of living sustainably on small or medium-sized farms, creating a healthy food system that supports a life-style valued by Saskatchewan residents.

Earthcare is a registered charitable organization established collaboratively by a group of churches and farmers concerned about the direction of agriculture in Saskatchewan. Earthcare has grown to include Genesis Land Conservancy, programs to assist young farmers, educational activities, and C-SAW Place, a working farm near Wynyard.

Although economics play a large role in decision-making, the environmental and social costs of our decisions are equally important. Sustainable development ensures improvement in the quality of human life. With sustainable development, society becomes more efficient and effective at handling resources. This means less waste, which is good for the environment as well as for economics. Moving towards sustainability requires a mental evolution in the paradigms we live by. The work of Earthcare Connections is directed at assisting with this evolution while providing practical support to farmers, schools and individuals interested in participating in sustainable development in Saskatchewan.

Sustainable development is “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” (Source: World Commission on Environment and Development)
